Unexpected Treasures

Sharing & Blessings

There’s an old European custom to give friends and neighbors homemade cookies on a special Christmas plate. I have always loved that idea. So this morning, after I dropped some clothes off at Goodwill, I thought I’d run inside quick to see if they had any cute plates. What luck, I found the perfect plates. They are the perfect small size and have a holly border all around the rim. I can’t wait to bake and give these pretty plate filled with cookies to my friends and neighbors.

As I was leaving, a few rows down, my eye caught something on the top shelf. I reached for it (it sometimes helps to be tall) and my first thought was “What is this?” And my second thought was “I love this!”. A dimensional nativity assembled with twigs and wire and a hand carved Holy Family. It’s so beautiful I was sure it would be expensive. I turned it around and there it was, the price tag $1.99. Be still my beating heart!

I felt like dancing all the way home. It’s already hanging on my Christmas wall. I put my little hand carved angel from Bavaria on the very top of the stable. What do you think? What treasure have you found that makes your heart sing?
