Silver Adventures

Silver, that’s the color of my hair since Covid. It has changed not only how I look but also how I feel because the reality is: I AM getting older. Soon I will be 80. EIGHTY! I thought I was going to be 79 until one day when I was having a conversation with my brother he informed me, NO WAY, you’re going to be 80! It shocked the by-gollies out of me and suddenly I FELT older. It’s amazing how a NUMBER can have such an effect on me but I think that’s true for all of us as women. We seem to be so concerned about our age. For some 40 is a milestone, others it’s 50 or 60 or 70…

I am here to tell you…IT’S JUST THE BEGINNING. The beginning of a new era, yes, but, oh, also such freedom! Each decade holds so much promise! By the time we’ve been blessed to live into our 60’s and 70’s we are POWERFUL! Still feminine, smart, with a beautiful heart. Now we have the wisdom to do good for others and ourselves while being deeply grateful every day.

That doesn’t mean everything is going to be rosy. As we age, we are going to have age related issues; health, vulnerability, needing glasses and gaining weight. This year, after living in an idyllic small community for 45 years, I had the choice to move into the senior home next door or move to the big city and have an adventure. I chose the adventure. Scary, yes. Difficult, yes. Moving is not for the faint hearted. But I learned I was very strong and brave and I CAN DO THIS! It will take me a year to get unpacked and settled but I AM SO HAPPY!

I invite you to join me as I will visit the cafes and coffee shops, galleries, museums and shops of my new city. You’ll get a glimpse into my kitchen for more baking! And hopefully be inspired when you join me in my home studio where I’ll share my paintings and creative ideas. We’ll take trips nearby… and far away.
